Lubricate all grease fittings (zerks) — front and rear axles, driveshafts, steering linkage, fifth wheel (if equipped)

Check power steering fluid level and inspect hoses for leaks or chafing

Inspect steering gear box for leaks and mounting bolts for tightness

Check front wheel bearing play — no excessive looseness or roughness when rocking tire

Inspect leaf springs and shackles on all axles — no broken leaves, missing U-bolts, or cracked shackles

Check shock absorbers for leaks, damage, or loose mounting hardware

Inspect brake drums and linings on all axles — minimum 1/4 inch lining remaining; no cracks in drums

Check automatic slack adjusters on all brake chambers — must maintain proper adjustment; replace if not self-adjusting

Inspect battery — clean terminals, check hold-down, check electrolyte level in all cells

Check alternator belt tension and condition — 1/2 inch deflection; no cracks or fraying

Check all accessory drive belts — proper tension and no visible damage

Inspect radiator and deaeration tank hoses — no soft spots, cracks, or swelling

Check heater hoses for leaks, cracks, or deterioration

Inspect air intake system — air cleaner housing, ducting, and connections for leaks or damage

Check fuel filter for water or sediment — drain water separator if equipped

Inspect throttle linkage and cable — smooth operation, no binding or fraying

Check transfer case and inter-axle differential shift linkage — shifts smoothly into all positions

Inspect front and rear differential vents — must be clear and unobstructed on all axles

Check winch (if equipped) — cable condition, fluid level, and operation

Inspect tow hooks, pintle hook, and lunette ring — no cracks, proper mounting, latch functions

Check NATO slave receptacle — cover in place, no corrosion on contacts

Inspect fire extinguisher — pin in place, gauge in green, no damage to nozzle or body

Check first aid kit — present, sealed, and within expiration date

Inspect tool set — all required tools present and serviceable

Check vehicle records — DA Form 5988 current; all open faults annotated

Inspect air lines and glad hands — no cracks, leaks, or damaged seals on trailer connections

Check CTIS wheel end valves (if equipped) — no leaks; valves open and close properly
