AR 350-30 — Code of Conduct and SERE
Army Regulation 350-30 establishes the Code of Conduct training requirements and SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape) program. Every soldier must know the six articles of the Code of Conduct and their obligations as a prisoner of war.
Current edition: 10 December 1985
Questions are based on this version. If your copy shows a newer date, let us know — we'll update the question bank.
Six articles of the Code of Conduct, obligations as a prisoner of war, the senior ranking member's duty in captivity, SERE training levels (A, B, C), Geneva Convention prisoner of war rights and responsibilities, and the history of the Code of Conduct.
Boards test the Code of Conduct because every soldier is required to know it. The six articles are a staple question at boards from SPC through CSM. Knowing not just the articles but what they require — especially the duty to resist and the senior ranking member's obligations — separates prepared candidates from those who only memorized the words.
